Rosewood Miyakojima

Rosewood Miyakojima gathers the beauty of Japan’s southernmost island landscape and its coral-edged coastline into a contemporary hideaway where time seems to move more slowly. As Rosewood’s first property in Japan, the resort opened in March 2025 on a quiet peninsula overlooking Oura Bay in northern Miyakojima, surrounded by sugarcane fields, white sand, and the crystalline waters known as Miyako Blue. From the setting alone, it feels less like a conventional Japanese seaside hotel and more like an island retreat for a discerning traveler. The resort comprises just 55 sea-facing villas, each with a private pool, courtyard, or generous outdoor living space, creating the sense of a private coastal residence. Design is led by Studio Piet Boon, with local architectural support from Mitsubishi Jisho Sekkei, and throughout the property Ryukyu limestone, natural textures, and restrained lines translate Piet Boon’s signature balance and warmth into an island aesthetic shaped by Ryukyuan culture and a distinctly Japanese sense of wabi-sabi.

The dining program is more layered than at many beach resorts, going far beyond the simple idea of meals with a view. NAGI centers on Italian cuisine with a clean, ingredient-driven approach, while MAAS draws more directly from the island, highlighting Okinawan seafood and Miyakojima’s famous snow salt. The standout is CHOMA, set in a standalone pavilion overlooking the vivid blue sea, where Japanese cuisine is reimagined through a contemporary lens with sushi, teppanyaki, seasonality, and local craftsmanship all in play. Nearby, Choma Bar builds its cocktails around the legends and landscapes of the Miyako archipelago, while poolside YUKUU offers a slower, more relaxed rhythm. What makes Rosewood Miyakojima so compelling is not merely Rosewood’s arrival in Japan, but the way it transforms Miyakojima’s raw beauty, the quiet depth of Ryukyuan culture, and the precision of international design into a destination resort with a clear identity and genuine staying power.

Rosewood Amsterdam

Rosewood Amsterdam feels less like a newly opened luxury hotel than a landmark of the canal age recast as a contemporary urban residence. Set at Prinsengracht 432-436 within Amsterdam’s UNESCO-listed canal district, the hotel occupies the former Palace of Justice, now carefully restored and reinterpreted as Rosewood’s Dutch flagship. Opened on May 1, 2025, the property offers 134 guestrooms and suites, including five signature houses, and reworks the building’s original sense of civic grandeur into a stay that feels quieter, more refined, and more attuned to modern living. Interiors by the Dutch design studio Studio Piet Boon weave together the building’s judicial past, Dutch craftsmanship, and a more timeless contemporary language, preserving the cultural weight of the landmark while giving it an understated yet unmistakably polished urban luxury.

What gives the hotel its fuller identity is the way it brings dining, social life, and wellbeing into the same mature rhythm of Amsterdam living. Its main venues—Eeuwen, Advocatuur, and The Court—each shape a different mood. Eeuwen offers a more nuanced expression of seasonal cuisine, continuing Rosewood’s emphasis on local ingredients and a sense of culinary rhythm tied to time and place. Advocatuur, inspired by the building’s former role as a courthouse, takes the form of a more experimental bar, complete with its own distillery, inventive cocktails, and Indian-inspired bites. The Court serves as the hotel’s everyday living room, where handcrafted coffee, pastries, tea, and lighter evening drinks give the public spaces a natural sense of flow. Together with the brand’s signature Asaya Spa, thoughtfully curated canal and cultural experiences, and De Tuin, the garden designed by Piet Oudolf, Rosewood Amsterdam is not a luxury hotel defined solely by the prestige of its historic address, but a destination-driven urban residence that reassembles a former courthouse, Dutch design, contemporary dining, and the cultural pulse of the city into something distinctly modern and deeply rooted in place.

The Chancery Rosewood

The Chancery Rosewood marks Rosewood Hotels & Resorts’ highly anticipated arrival in London’s Mayfair, opening in September 2025 as a new benchmark for contemporary urban luxury. Occupying the former U.S. Embassy, a 1960 modernist landmark designed by Eero Saarinen, the building has been meticulously transformed to honor its architectural legacy while introducing a refined, residential sensibility. Guided by Rosewood’s “Sense of Place” philosophy, the restoration preserves the original façade and its dialogue with the city, while interiors by French designer Joseph Dirand bring a quiet elegance defined by restraint, proportion, and material depth. The hotel is conceived primarily as an all-suite property, with generously scaled accommodations designed to maximize light, privacy, and city views, creating a composed, deeply livable retreat for travelers who value space and individuality in the heart of London.

Dining plays a central role in shaping the hotel’s lifestyle rhythm, with five distinct restaurants and bars offering a nuanced range of experiences. Serra presents a warm, share-driven interpretation of Southern Mediterranean cuisine; Tobi Masa, led by a celebrated New York chef, blends refined Japanese technique with Western ingredients in a contemporary sushi-forward format. Jacqueline reimagines the tradition of British afternoon tea with elegance and modern flair, while GSQ Café functions as an all-day social anchor, transitioning seamlessly from morning coffee to evening aperitifs. Crowning the property, Eagle Bar commands rooftop views across the London skyline, pairing inventive cocktails with a spirited nightlife atmosphere. Complemented by a comprehensive spa and wellness offering, The Chancery Rosewood defines luxury not through spectacle, but through the integration of history, architecture, dining, and service, offering a sophisticated Mayfair residence where London’s past and present meet with assured confidence.

Rosewood Courchevel

Rosewood Courchevel is one of the most refined addresses in Courchevel, where meticulous design meets the innate grandeur of the Alps, seamlessly blending French elegance, mountain living, and Rosewood’s hallmark approach to hospitality. Set on the slopes of Courchevel 1850, just steps from the ski lifts and main runs, the hotel is a natural choice for discerning skiers and alpine enthusiasts. Architecturally, it reinterprets local chalet traditions through a contemporary lens, with stone and timber façades that echo the surrounding pine forests, while interiors favor soft textures, warm hues, and finely crafted details to create a sense of understated, layered luxury. The hotel’s 51 guestrooms and suites are conceived as intimate mountain residences, featuring handcrafted wood elements, bespoke furnishings, and floor-to-ceiling windows with terraces that frame sweeping views of snow-covered peaks, pistes, and forests. Public spaces revolve around inviting fireplace lounges, reading areas, and an elegant bar, fostering a welcoming yet polished atmosphere, while an indoor pool, sauna, and multi-purpose spa offer welcome restoration after a day on the slopes.

Dining is deliberately focused and highly accomplished. SALTO, the hotel’s signature restaurant, draws inspiration from the Northern Italian Alps, presenting a dinner menu rooted in seasonal mountain produce, precise technique, and a thoughtfully curated wine list, all enjoyed against panoramic views of the snowfields outside. By day and after skiing, SALTO Lounge shifts the mood toward relaxed sociability, serving alpine comfort dishes, light fare, and cocktails in a setting warmed by music and a glowing fireplace. Rather than offering breadth for its own sake, Rosewood Courchevel emphasizes balance, between cuisine, setting, and the rhythm of alpine life, creating a culinary experience that feels deeply connected to its surroundings while remaining polished and contemporary. The result is a mountain retreat where luxury is expressed through restraint, atmosphere, and an authentic sense of place.
