Wota Lifestyle presents Alila Purnama, a sailing hotel with an all-wooden design, sailing from the Indonesian islands to Java and the Banda sea.
Created by Alila, a top hotel and resort group in Singapore, Purnama is the Indonesian word for full moon. Alila Purnama is 46 meters long and has three covered decks. Adhering to the pursuit of sustainable concept development, Purnama is constructed of teak, cane and Indonesian local materials, having drawn inspiration from traditional ship construction in the Sulawesi islands - full of simple decorations but full of tribal customs.
Keeping within the themes from Java, Bali, Cirebon and Madura, it serves guests with four studios, equipped with air conditioning, separate shower, a desk and two wardrobes. In addition, Srivijaya, inspired from ancient dynasty, is a luxury suite with a 180 - degree view, providing you a stunning look around the mountains and sea along with an independent terrace sofa. Of course, you can also easily share the scene instantly on social media with the ship’s wireless internet.
Outside the room, there is a library, lounge, bar, indoor dining room suitable for twelve guests and a spacious space out on the deck. On the main deck, large benches are equipped with large parasols. While chatting with friends, sip on hotel-prepared drinks or retreat to the cabin library, reading books and newspapers or simply watching videos. Here, the only thing you need to do is slow down. From the guests to the crew, diving coaches, hotel chefs, spa massage therapists and other staff, there won’t more than thirty people.
You could ask the hotel to arrange a private and custom diving experience. Alila Purnama arranges a variety of courses, all led by professional divers certificated by PADI, in accordance with the guests’ training level and demand. With available deep diving and observation of whale sharks, there are over sixteen kinds of professional courses as options. Other available courses include mountaineering, yoga, kayaking, or visiting local islands at any given time as well as pearl farms. For those who like photography, Alila Purnama has also prepared a fresh water tank for some underwater photography. After your adventure, massage therapists are waiting for you and your guests back on the yacht. Enjoy your massage on board or on a secluded island beach nearby.
From May to October, Alila Purnama will sail to the Komodo Islands, consisting of coral reefs, seaweed and a semi-closed bay, is regarded as one of the best dive site in the world. Dugongs and whales can often seen here. In 1986, the island was selected as world heritage site by UNESCO, in order to protect the local creatures such as wild boar, buffalo, monkey and especially the Komodo dragon, the largest reptile in the world, often considered a modern dinosaur. For audacious adventurers, looking at the dinosaurs at close range gives a few magical touches to the journey.
From November to April, Purnama will sail to Raja Ampat, consisting of the four islands: Salawati, Misool, Batanta and Waigeo. The main composition of Raja Ampat is limestone. Due to the long-term erosion from seawater, the cliffs are spectacularly covered with orchids, tropical plants and other vegetations. In addition, more than 70 percent of the foliage are the healthy coral reefs, known as an underwater Shangri-la. Hopping on the small kayaks provided by the hotel and exploring the unfrequented coastal caves allow you to explore the lagoons, which are formed from the erosion.
Named after a endemic bird species in Indonesia, Cenderawasih Bay itself is an ecological paradise. The national park here, which covers nearly 15,000 square kilometers, includes mangrove ecosystems, coral reefs and tropical forests. The marine park is also the largest one in southeast Asia, covering an area of 80 square kilometers, with a wide range of species such as turtles, hawks, shells and dugongs. Inside the gulf, there are also scattered bomber and battleship wrecks left during WWII which are all open to visitors.
