Tianjin  •  China
Set in the cultural heart of Beijing, Mandarin Oriental Wangfujing redefines contemporary luxury through an intimate scale and distinctly Eastern elegance, standing as a refined urban sanctuary that bridges history and modern sophistication. Just steps from Wangfujing’s bustling promenade and the Forbidden City, the hotel offers a serene retreat where imperial heritage meets cosmopolitan allure. Its 73 rooms and suites are spacious and tranquil, designed in a soothing palette of silk, wood, and soft light that reflects the calm precision of a modern scholar’s study. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame sweeping views of the Forbidden City rooftops and Beijing’s skyline, while marble bathrooms with deep soaking tubs and dual vanities embody the brand’s hallmark of understated refinement.

Dining is at the heart of the experience. Café Zi showcases inventive Cantonese cuisine and Asian-inspired creations, while Mandarin Grill + Bar offers contemporary interpretations of European classics. On the rooftop, MO Bar and its terrace invite guests to sip champagne and craft cocktails beneath the city lights, with the ancient palace complex as a breathtaking backdrop. Conrad Tianjin

Tianjin  •  China
The curve of the Haihe River and the illuminated arc of the Tianjin Eye define the city’s modern silhouette, and Conrad Tianjin responds with a composed, contemporary presence along the waterfront. Set in the heart of Nankai District, the hotel bridges historic neighborhoods and emerging commercial quarters, offering a vantage point that feels both connected and quietly removed. Its façade of glass and stone is clean-lined and restrained, while interiors unfold in layers of dark timber, textured stone, and curated art, an atmosphere that balances Eastern subtlety with international polish. Across 375 rooms and suites, floor-to-ceiling windows frame shifting river light or the evolving skyline, turning Tianjin’s urban rhythm into part of the daily backdrop.

Dining and social spaces extend the brand’s refined sensibility. Ying Xuan Chinese Restaurant presents Cantonese cuisine with contemporary flourishes, complemented by private dining rooms suited to business gatherings and celebratory occasions alike. Měi Tíng, the all-day dining venue, showcases international flavors through open kitchens and live cooking stations, offering both buffet and à la carte selections. The Lobby Lounge provides a more relaxed cadence, transitioning from afternoon tea and specialty coffee to evening cocktails beneath soft, ambient lighting. An indoor swimming pool, 24-hour fitness center, and spa facilities round out the experience, offering respite after a day in the city. Rather than leaning into overt spectacle, Conrad Tianjin favors proportion, detail, and quiet confidence, an urban retreat shaped by river reflections and contemporary design.

Four Seasons Hotel Tianjin

Tianjin  •  China
Four Seasons Hotel Tianjin rises above the intersection of Nanjing Road and Binjiang Avenue in the Heping District, just thirty minutes from Beijing by high-speed rail. Open since 2017, the hotel was designed by WATG with interiors by SPIN Design Studio, its Art Deco-inflected spaces woven around a narrative the team calls "Seasons Turn in Tianjin" — a nod to the Haihe River's grandeur and the city's layered history. The double-height lobby sets the tone: a lotus pond ringed by copper bamboo glows beneath a statement chandelier, while corridors lined with black-and-white photographs of Tianjin landmarks trace the city's journey from dockside port to cosmopolitan metropolis. Of 259 rooms, 44 are suites. Warm wood tones and contemporary furnishings frame sweeping views of the skyline and the river. The 319-square-meter Presidential Suite pairs a tapestry of perched birds with a custom canopy bed from France — East meets West in a single room, which is Tianjin in miniature.

Dining anchors the hotel. Jin House, on the seventh floor, has earned a Black Pearl award seven years running. Its sunken hall is capped by simulated starlight; eleven private rooms seat up to twenty, alongside a chef's table and sushi lounge. Cantonese and Tianjin cuisines share the menu, seasonal seafood, and handmade dim sum at the center. On the ninth floor, Cielo is an Italian kitchen with a wood grill and walk-in dry-aging room, plus a rare outdoor Sky Garden terrace. Gusto Bar — cocktails by Proof & Company — lines up bourbons and whiskies by a fireplace against floor-to-ceiling city views. L'Océan Spa has eleven treatment rooms, including a couples suite with a private lounge, offering singing-bowl therapy and collagen facials. A 25-meter skylit pool sits beside a whirlpool and juice bar. The Five Great Avenues are a walk away; the Haihe River is closer still.
