Icy Bay
Formed by the retreat of the Guyot, Yahtse, and Tyndall Glaciers, Icy Bay is a young fjord-like bay in Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, Alaska. Though only about 100 years old in its present form, its icy blue waters, icebergs, and silent scenery feel timeless. Harbor seals, seabirds, marine mammals, and even grizzlies may appear, but August is still chilly at about 11°C/50°F.

Valdez, Alaska
Valdez, Alaska, "Little Switzerland," sits on Prince William Sound, ringed by the 5,000-foot Chugach Mountains and glaciers. It is the southern terminus of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline and the most northerly ice-free port in the Western Hemisphere.
