The Fife Arms is far more than a 19th century landmark hotel; it is a living museum of Braemar history. Every element has a story behind it – one of the 46 guest rooms pays tribute to Robert Louis Stevenson, who wrote Treasure Island here; in a common area, abstract wall murals echo the flow of the Clunie River outside. Timber and other materials in the newly built section are locally sourced, as are most of the fresh seafood and game, seasonal produce, and over 300 varieties of whisky. Explore the extensive network of hill trails; get an acupressure massage; or visit nearby Balmoral Castle, open to the public April through July.

Six Senses London

London is not short on luxury hotels. What London is short on is a reason to actually slow down. Six Senses London, which opened on 1 March 2026 as the brand's first UK property, is exactly that reason. The hotel occupies a quarter of The Whiteley on Queensway, a Grade II-listed building that began life in 1863 as London's first department store. Its founder, William Whiteley, famously promised anything from "a pin to an elephant." The restoration, led by Foster + Partners, has preserved the neoclassical facade, the central rotunda and the grand staircase modelled on La Scala in Milan. Hyde Park is a short walk south, Notting Hill around the corner, and Heathrow roughly an hour by the Central line. Interiors by AvroKO and EPR Architects reinterpret the building's Art Deco bones in warm neutrals and curved lines, and greenery drifts from the lobby into the guest corridors.

The 109 rooms and suites, many with private terraces, favour earth tones, natural timber and textiles that shift with the light across the day. What really sets Six Senses London apart from the city's other five-star addresses waits below ground: a 2,300-square-metre spa anchored by London's first hotel magnesium pool, joined by a 20-metre indoor swimming pool, cryotherapy chambers, flotation rooms and a longevity clinic. At the Alchemy Bar, guests blend their own body scrubs from British herbs. The Biohack Recovery Lounge gathers infrared, contrast therapy and compression boots for travellers who take recovery seriously. Whiteley's Kitchen, Bar and Café handles the dining, modern British cooking led by seasonal produce and fire, from dawn breakfasts to late-night natural wines. Upstairs, Six Senses Place, the brand's first private members' club, ties the hotel into the rhythms of the neighbourhood.

Corinthian columns rise three storeys above the entrance, and beneath the Rotunda's domed ceiling, artefacts on loan from the Museum of London Archaeology recall when this was the nerve centre of imperial maritime trade. Four Seasons took over in 2017 and, in 2024, renamed the property from Ten Trinity Square to Tower Bridge, the name it wears across 89 guest rooms, 11 suites, and 35 private residences. Grand Heritage Suites soar to five-metre ceilings with original stone fireplaces intact, finished in honey-oak joinery and blue-grey tones. Residences range from one to four bedrooms with open-plan living areas and Gaggenau kitchens; some open onto private terraces facing the Thames, the Tower of London, and Tower Bridge.

Dining centres on Mei Ume, where Chef Peter draws on Hong Kong and mainland China for Peking duck, Hunan salmon, and dim sum, while sushi chef Annie handles Omakase and Sashimi. Under the Rotunda's dome, the bar and lounge serves London by Lily Vanilli, an afternoon tea that turns into Aperi-tea by evening, paired with cocktails inspired by the Thames and Tower of London. Cooper's Cut offers a contemporary steakhouse, and in summer the rooftop lounge Bloom opens with clear sightlines of Tower Bridge. The 1,770-square-metre spa, designed by Joseph Caspari with Mio Shibuya, takes its cues from Roman baths: a 22-carat gold mosaic reception, a Carrara marble hammam, eight treatment rooms, a swimming pool and vitality pool, and the only publicly accessible SAVA Sound Pod in Europe. It is a hotel for travellers who already know London, and who want to feel the weight of its history and the pulse of its present under one domed roof.

Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire

England has no shortage of country house hotels, but few can claim a history that begins before the Norman Conquest. Dogmersfield Park, first recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 and the site where Henry VII brought Prince Arthur to meet Catherine of Aragon, has been home to Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire since 2005. The Grade I listed Georgian manor, built from 1728 and set within 500 acres of parkland, woodland and English Heritage listed gardens, sits 45 minutes from Heathrow and about an hour from central London. Its 133 rooms and 22 suites are distributed across the restored main house and three wings, with marble bathrooms, claw-foot tubs and English prints throughout, and courtyard or estate views from most rooms.

Wild Carrot anchors the dining programme, where Executive Chef Talha Barkin draws on Hampshire markets for a menu that changes with the seasons and reads as a genuine tribute to British cooking rather than an obligation to it. La Terrazza moves the same spirit outdoors, with a traditional pizza oven and open countryside views. The Drawing Room handles afternoon tea with the full ceremony the setting demands. The Spa spans 27,000 square feet with 15 treatment rooms, two VIP suites and partners including Dr. Barbara Sturm, 111SKIN and Ila; an indoor infinity pool connects to an outdoor vitality pool with a sun terrace. Beyond the walls, the estate offers equestrian trails, falconry, archery, high-wire courses and canal boat trips on the Basingstoke Canal.

Andaz London Liverpool Street

Andaz London Liverpool Street successfully fusing the gap between the buttoned-up legacy of the City of London and the rebellious artistic spirit of Shoreditch. Housed within the majestic red-brick shell of the former Great Eastern Hotel, a railway icon dating back to 1884, the property captures the essence of a London in transition. The guest experience is designed to break down barriers from the moment of arrival; with no traditional check-in desk, travelers are welcomed into a lobby that feels more like a contemporary living room, punctuated by bold street art and the brand's signature complimentary wine hour. The hotel’s 267 rooms and suites offer a sleek, modern counterpoint to the building's Victorian exterior, featuring complimentary minibars stocked with local treats. But the true magic lies in its hidden history. Deep within the building sits a spectacularly preserved Grecian Masonic Temple, a secret room of Italian marble and gold zodiac ceilings that was concealed behind a fake wall for decades, now serving as one of the city's most intriguing event spaces. Guests can start their day beneath the breathtaking stained-glass dome of the 1901 Ballroom, savor authentic Japanese dishes at Miyako, or unwind at Rake’s Café Bar, a venue that defies categorization with its mix of parlour-style grandeur and East End grit.
